Dog Trainer in Christchurch
1-to-1 Training for Real Life
If you’ve been searching for a dog trainer in Christchurch, I’m Krisztina from Doggie Dog – a fully qualified, 1-to-1 dog trainer working in your home across Christchurch and the surrounding area, including Highcliffe, Mudeford, Somerford, Burton, Walkford, Bransgore, Sopley and Hurn.
Every session is built around you, your dog, and the specific challenges you’re dealing with – not a generic plan designed for an imaginary average dog. I come to you, train in your environment, and stay with you through the process.
Why Christchurch Is a Wonderful (and Demanding) Place to Train a Dog
Christchurch has some of the most beautiful dog-walking territory in Dorset – and some of the most demanding.
Stanpit Marsh, just minutes from the High Street, is a 65-hectare nature reserve where the Rivers Avon and Stour meet Christchurch Harbour. It’s a stunning place to walk, alive with wildlife – curlews, egrets, ponies grazing by the water, views across to Mudeford Spit and Hengistbury Head. Dogs must be kept on lead inside the reserve to protect the wildlife, which means lead walking here needs to be genuinely enjoyable, not a daily battle.
Hengistbury Head sits on the boundary of Christchurch and Bournemouth, jutting out into the harbour with heathland, clifftop paths, sandy beaches, and some of the best views on the south coast. It’s a wonderful place to let a reliable dog run free – and a genuine challenge if recall isn’t solid, because the Head is full of rabbits, birds, and other dogs coming at your dog from every direction.
Mudeford Quay and Avon Beach bring their own distractions – busy with people, dogs, fish smells, and seagulls in summer. And Riversmeet Meadow, one of the newer open spaces on the edge of Christchurch with views across the harbour, is off-lead for dogs – which is brilliant when training is going well, and stressful when it isn’t.
A trainer who knows these places and trains your dog in them – not in a hall – will get you results that hold up in the real world. That’s what I do.
What I Help Christchurch Dog Owners With
My dog won’t come back off-lead Hengistbury Head without reliable recall is genuinely risky – it’s busy, full of wildlife, and there are cliffs. I’ll build recall that holds up in that environment, not just in a quiet park.
My dog pulls on the lead The walks around Stanpit Marsh and the Quay are long and scenic – they should be enjoyable. I’ll help your dog walk calmly at your side so the lead becomes a pleasure, not a fight.
My dog reacts to other dogs Mudeford and Avon Beach are busy in summer, and Hengistbury Head throws off-lead dogs at you from every direction. Reactivity is an emotional response, not bad behaviour – and with the right approach, it’s very treatable.
My dog has high prey drive Stanpit Marsh is full of birds, ponies, and small wildlife. For a dog with strong chase instincts, it’s an exciting environment – and a dangerous one without the right training. This is my particular specialism, and I can help even the most driven breeds enjoy these walks safely.
My puppy is a handful Puppies should start training from the day you bring them home. Early foundations make everything else easier – and prevent the majority of adult behaviour problems before they take hold.
My dog has separation anxiety One of the most common issues I work with, and one of the most treatable when addressed early. If your dog struggles to be alone, let’s build a plan now before the behaviour becomes more entrenched.
