Dog Trainer in Poole – 1-to-1 Training That Works in the Real World
If you’re searching for a dog trainer in Poole, you’ve found the right place. I’m Krisztina, founder of Doggie Dog, and I offer fully qualified, 1-to-1 dog training in your home across Poole and the surrounding area – including Sandbanks, Canford Heath, Branksome, Hamworthy, Upton, Broadstone, Parkstone and Canford Cliffs.
Every dog is different. Every training plan I build is tailored to your dog, your home, and the places you actually walk – not a generic programme designed for the average dog that doesn’t exist.
Why Poole Is a Brilliant (and Challenging) Place to Own a Dog
Poole is one of the best places in the country to own a dog – and one of the trickiest places to train one.
Poole Park sits right in the middle of town, with its open parkland, boating lake, and designated off-lead areas where dogs can run freely – surrounded by joggers, cyclists, waterfowl, and every other dog in the neighbourhood. Baiter Park and Whitecliff Park sit along the edge of Poole Harbour, with wide open spaces and stunning views across to Brownsea Island, but also irresistible distractions at every turn. Upton Country Park offers 160 acres of open countryside, woodland, and meadow – spectacular for a confident, well-trained dog, and a real challenge if recall isn’t yet reliable.
Then there’s Canford Heath Nature Reserve – over 850 acres of heathland, where dogs must be kept on lead between March and July to protect nesting birds. That means if your dog’s lead walking isn’t pleasant, half the year in Poole just got a lot more stressful.
And of course, Sandbanks. One of the most famous beaches in the UK, a magnet for crowds in summer, and absolutely surrounded by the kind of distractions – other dogs, children, food smells, sea – that make recall and calm behaviour genuinely difficult without the right foundations.
A trainer who knows these environments and trains your dog in them will get faster, more lasting results than any hall-based class. That’s exactly what I offer.
What I Help Poole Dog Owners With
My dog won’t come back off-lead Reliable recall is everything – especially around Poole Park, Whitecliff, and the open heathland of Canford. I use proven, motivation-based techniques to make returning to you the best choice your dog can make, even around serious distractions.
My dog pulls constantly on the lead If Canford Heath is on-lead only for five months of the year, those walks need to be enjoyable. I’ll teach your dog to walk calmly by your side, in the real environments where you actually walk.
My dog reacts to other dogs or people Reactivity is rooted in emotion, not bad behaviour. Poole Park, Baiter, and Sandbanks are busy, unpredictable environments. I’ll help you understand what’s driving the reaction and build calm, confident responses – walk by walk.
My dog has high prey drive This is my specialism. Beagles, Spaniels, Vizslas, breeds that were built to chase. With the right training, off-lead freedom around Upton Country Park and the heathland is genuinely achievable, even for the most driven dogs.
My puppy is overwhelming me Early training prevents the vast majority of adult behaviour problems. I’ll get you and your puppy started with the right foundations from day one -indoors first, then out into the world as they’re ready.
